Our story is simple, we help make our members financial dreams come true, one chapter at a time. From talking at neighbourhood kitchen tables to our very first loan of $50, so a member could buy a washing machine, First Calgary Financial, a division of Connect First Credit Union, has been committed to strengthening communities across Alberta for over 75-years, with 16 retail branches in the greater Calgary area.
We have a lot of great stories. One of our most recent success stories is our amalgamation with Chinook Financial (formerly Chinook Credit Union) to form Connect First Credit Union. A splendid story from the beginning. As the story line carries on, we look forward to continuing to better serve our members.
First Calgary Financial has 400 awesome employees who passionately serve 80,000 members. They create stories every day and are simply, people helping people.
We think differently about how a credit union can operate; providing local decision making, lasting relationships and investing in communities. Last year, we continued to stay on top of the latest banking trends, by being the first credit union in Alberta to launch Interac Flash™ technology — tap and go.
We also get recognized. First Calgary Financial was recognized as one of the Most Admired Corporate Cultures in Canada and one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies — a platinum club member, since 1999.
As part of a sustainable credit union that will prosper for the benefit of our members today, tomorrow and in the future, First Calgary Financial, will continue to create many exciting stories.
Will you join us? Become a member, join our talented employee team, or give us a call to learn how your story can begin.
Feeling good about where your investments take you!

Jenny Smith, Personal Banking Specialist, Crowfoot branch
When Tomasz Dudek moved to Canada from the United States in August 2012, his first choice wasn’t a credit union. However, he quickly found that the big banks weren’t meeting his needs. Through online research, Tomasz found First Calgary Financial, visited the Crowfoot branch, and the rest...is history.
Tomasz soon knew he found the best place for his family’s banking needs. The Crowfoot branch team helped Tomasz establish a Canadian credit bureau, keeping in contact regularly to offer encouragement and investment advice. Soon, Tomasz and his family were also able to qualify for a mortgage and are now proud homeowners. Tomasz has recommended many friends, which has led to many other Calgarians coming to First Calgary Financial to start their financial journey, with expert financial advice.

I had no expectations when I walked into the Crowfoot branch, but had many financial hopes. First Calgary Financial exceeded my expectations of being a member of a credit union. No matter what the situation was, or will be, in the future, my relationship with First Calgary Financial will always be taken care of with the best advice and guidance possible. That’s what a proud member is all about!-Tomasz Dudek
